On 17 October 2013, Mr. Wen Shugang, President of DEC Ltd. was invited to attend and address the 22nd World Energy Congress held in Daegu, Republic of Korea. Under the theme of “Securing Tomorrow’s Energy Today,” this premier global energy forum provided delegates with a high-level exclusive and informative programme featuring addresses by government ministers, chief executives, and experts from around the world. The address that themed of “Efficiency is the most important energy” presented by Mr. Wen Shugang aroused strong echo amongst the participants.
In his speech, he firstly analyzed the world energy structure and status of shortage, with an end to appeal for uplifting the efficiency of existing energy availability so as to meet the future energy needs, meanwhile, he emphasized the gradual exploration of new energies such as solar energy, wind energy, by way of which global energy restructuring and re-strategizing could be reached. Later on, he proceeded to introduce the efforts that DEC has done in enhancing energy efficiency, restructuring industries, as well as R&D of new energies, etc. He finally pointed out that the most important methodology to address the global energy crisis requesting not merely the policy support from each individual government upon new energy development, more importantly, deepening and more extensive collaboration are needed so as to further enhance the said work.
Formed in 1923, WEC is the UN-accredited global energy body, representing the entire energy spectrum, with more than 3000 member organisations located in over 90 countries and drawn from governments, private and state corporations, academia, NGOs and energy-related stakeholders. The 22nd World Energy Congress was held at the EXCO (Exhibition and Convention Center) in Daegu, Korea from Sunday, October 13 to Thursday, October 17, 2013, attracting over 6000 representatives from government ministers, chief executives, and experts from around the world.
During the stay in Korea, Mr. Wen Shugang also led the delegation to visit Kepco, Daewoo E&C , Modern green electricity, and Samsung C&T Engineering & Construction and so on, made extensive communications upon international power plant cooperation.
